Popeyes‘ Peanut Butter Banana Pie features a graham cracker crust with some peanut butter mixed in with a “smooth banana Bavarian filling” topped with ribbons of chocolate and peanut butter chips.
I paid $1.79 for an individually-packaged slice.
The graham cracker crust was mostly soft and crumbly with a light peanut butter flavor.
The banana filling offered a pleasant and smooth banana flavor. It was a liquid as banana pudding and was more like a mousse mixed with some gelatin as there was a bit more density and structure to it (kind of like a no-bake cheesecake).
Given the relative scarcity of the ribbons of chocolate and peanut butter chips, they don’t add much to the proceedings other than the barest hints of their respective flavors.
Taken altogether, Popeyes’ Peanut Butter Banana Pie works mostly as a banana pie as the peanut butter factor definitely takes a back seat. That being said, it was tasty and enjoyable enough.
